Plant-McCumby Bout Set for Canelo-Berlanga Card

In a huge addition to the September 14 PBC on Prime PPV card, former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb “Sweet Hands” Plant (22-2, 13 KOs) will face off against the undefeated Trevor McCumby (28-0, 21 KOs). The fight will be one of the key supporting bouts for the Mexican-Puerto Rican unified super middleweight clash between Canelo Alvarez and Edgar Berlanga.

The Plant-McCumby bout, initially scheduled for August 17, faced a delay due to a cut on McCumby’s eye. However, McCumby has since returned to training camp, and sources confirm that the cut has healed completely, allowing him to train without any restrictions.

Contracts for the fight were finalized yesterday, and an official announcement is expected soon.

This bout will mark Plant’s return to the ring after a loss to David Benavidez in March 2023. McCumby will look to secure the biggest win of his career and establish himself as a serious title contender in the super middleweight division.
